The Whirling Dervish- Still frames Mar 26, 2008 06:29PM
Blogging now from "Il bel paese". Insomnia is upon me, so I just uploaded some still frames from the film. Matt Achterberg and I have been back and forthing over the final picture lock. He has indicated that I am driving him crazy. I told him such are the trials of a long distance relationship. Trying to make suggestions and changing on the wire is somewhat frustrating. Everything takes much longer. Factor a six hour time delay and you see what we are dealing with. Anyway enough winging, hopefully we will set and lock up by the weekend. I am feeling positive we will move smoothly to sound design next week. Neil Benezra is ready to roll and will starting with cleaning the dialogue and I am off to buy some pro-grade speakers, so I can actually hear some details of the hours. The ones on my macbook pro do not cut it obviously. Then On Tuesday Gil Talmi will start scoring the film. I am excited to start on sound which really means we are in the home stretch to the finish-line. Matt Achterberg has done a great job on the picture edit. He has a twisted sense of humor and was the right choice as editor for this. RB

Why I didn't keep a steady blog during production or even pre-production? Why! Now I have no real record of anything, which is really shithouse indeed. Well, except of course. Wait a minute. Email! There must be millions of stories buried in the billions of emails and chats on my hard drive. Gentlemen we can rebuild it. I will do it when I have a few years to spare. Meantime here is the skinny of it. I wrote a short film in summer of '07. Many excellent people joined the journey, invested money, time, talent, skill, willpower. In December we shot The Whirling Dervish over four days icey day in Brooklyn, New York. We are currently in post. The picture edit will most likely wrap next weekend. In celebration of that I am posting some stills from the film - enjoy!RB
