I think the idea for this movie came from enjoying zombie movies, but never really having seen one that didn't devolve into the "gut-munching, blood-spraying gore-fest climax" that we've all come to know and love. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I wanted to go deeper into the characters; do a more thorough examination of humanity. So when Steve Clark (who also plays Shearer) and I began to write it, I was amazed at his approach. Steve was into writing a deep, deep thoughtful exploration, delving into the mythological, into Jungian archetypes -- just wonderful heady stuff. Then we kind of realized that we were going to have to go in a more classical zombie-film direction if we were going to have an audience. The result was a story we were both very happy with. One that had a fair balance of human exploration, and classical zombies.

Wondering what gave you the idea for this movie?
