Film Maker's Blog

I have joined the .COM society, and it is neat. Sep 17, 2006 11:23AM
I'm really modest, I am, and there are some people who see me up on stage and think, "Gad, he's certainly full of himself." I'm not. Most of the time I think the stuff I do is garbage anyway, and it's the stuff that makes ME giggle that actually gets into my art. According to def4106, it was the best short in Lollapalooza. It just feels weird to have a website now, regardless of how much my animations need it. It'll have my animations on it, of course. Puppet Panic and Stick Striker should be up eventually, as well as a trailer for Humor Me. Once Humor Me finishes the festival rounds the full version will be included as well. There will be sound clips for all the voices I can do, just in case I get a chance to do professional voice-overs. I don't have many original voices, but people can recognize the ones I can do. There's a little bio page, and links to the sites that are helping me spread the gospel. There's a guestbook. I guess it's for guests to sign. We're also working on selling t-shirts so I can afford to do new animations. There's only a few designs right now, but eventually I'll have t-shirts for various scenes in Humor Me, and my prized doodle collection. So far my favorite thing is the random quote generator at the top. The site is actually pretty good considering we're paying the designer in cookies. They are good cookies though. Also, in my spare time, I'm working on a new animation that just may change the way you look at things forever.
Humor Me, in Lollapalooza? Far out.  Jul 17, 2006 11:01AM
I've only had two animations go public, and things seem to be going especially well for Humor Me. I'll try to get it up on the site in a couple weeks, but the computer won't give it up without a fight. I've been animating since Middle School, and have continued through out High School. I used to do stop motion because of my lackluster drawing abilities, but ever since my Experiment in Lip Synch in 2005 I've continued working with pencil and paper. Everyone liked Puppet Panic, and it made it into the NW Film Center's 29th Young People's Film and Video Festival. I don't know why Stick Striker didn't. I guess they only allowed one entry per person and they picked the funny one. Humor Me is going pretty far for a little hand-drawn sucker. It's about 408 hand-drawn frames, but thanks to our good friend Mr. Dynamic Hold it's 1:35 long. It won Best Animation in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Backlight Film Festival, and also made it into the 30th Young People's Film and Video Festival. Lollapalooza is next. I'm not sure how they go about playing shorts in a rock concert, but whatever. It's all the way in Chicago so I won't be able to go there. It'd be great to see all those people laugh at Humor Me. That's what Humor Me is about. I just wanted to make people laugh. It's not a test of my skills like Stick Striker was. I wasn't trying to learn any new techniques. It was the last animation of my senior year and I wanted to have as much fun as possible. Lollapalooza... I'm easily excited over the little things, but big things like this don't feel real enough to be happy over. I'm only a kid, so I get excited over new action figures and geek-out over Spider-Man comics. Animation seems to come naturally, just like my sense of timing, so I just use it as a way to make people laugh. I really need to figure out this website. Maybe I could get my other animations on here as well. It'd probably make my computer implode trying to import them to the harddrive and then onto the server. Computers don't like me. They want my soul to be in constant turmoil.

Hey nice to hear from you.

We had found you by massive google searching, since after we saw your short we completely missed the credits (if any). So we started searching for everythign we could find, we definately want to see the scene with the interview - that was by far our favorite part. Love the splash page by the way!

I'm sure you may get this a lot, but have you got around to ever trying to get your video on the internet?

My girlfriend and I saw it at Lollapalooza and thought it was literally THE highlight of all the shorts we had seen. I just wanted to write a note to say your work made us smile and we hope to see it again.
