hi this is akihiro. I wrote,directed and acted in this feature film "PORNO". I always wanted to make a film out of my personal experiences in America because I knew it would be a different point of view from any other coming of age stories. You don't really see a movie that has a Japanese boy losing his virginity to a white girl in America and telling the whole situation from his funny Japanese point of view..even though there should be more movies like that in Hollywood. It's an exciting,sexy,funny and little bit heartbreaking movie. It's something we all could relate to. NOW, the movie is re-edited shorter and tighter (when it first came out, it was 2hours and 30 minutes!!!!Crazy..) under the new management, "PORNO" is being presented again in a new light. It has been an underground cult film among young producers in Hollywood (Johnny Depp requested to see this film!) and it did help me to make the latest feature "I'll Be There With You" but now We will try to get the distribution deal once again so people can experience this wonderful film. writer/director, Akihiro Kitamura won "Outstanding Indie Directorial Debut" Award for his work of I'll be there with you at LA Indies last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep checking our site as we will announce our coming up screenings and parties in LA.
We will probably have a screening in LA on 09/28 hosted by Japanese government!! We will let you know the details later.
ALSO, We have our 1st official "I'll Be There With You KICK OFF PARTY" hosted by Crash Entertainment in Hollywood!!! it will also be at the end of September. PARTY WITH THE STARZ OF I'LL BE THERE WITH YOU!!!

The NY Premiere experience

Hi this is Akihiro, the writer/director of a feature film "I'll Be There With You". Oh man, the NY Premiere screening last night was the best screening we ever had so far. The place we had a screening at, Issue Project Room, was really unbeliebable. mostly centered around avante garde and experimental music, Many great artists have performed there, including members of sonic youth ( kim gordon ), steve bushemi has had a few benefits there, marc ribot, anthony coleman, gibby hanes, and a whole bunch more..we are so lucky to play our film in such a beautiful place..if you are in NY, you should definitely check out a event happeing at Issue. And what I really liked about this screening was those NY people.. They really got the movie. I heard a group of people sitting behind me making cool comments thoughout the movie. They were like "This Baldwin is sick!" I am always happy to hear people's reactions to the film. It's a very entertaining film even though the events taking place in this film is very intense, raw and sometimes sad, and I have witnessed everybody has different kind of emotional reactions to it. In past screening, there were people laughing out loud to some very violent scenes while some people was shaking with fear and anger..at this screening, I heard a couple crying at the end part of the movie and it really meant a lot to me. I almost cried listening to them sobbing..
I talked to a lot of cool people at the after party. World Famous DJ Olive was really a cool person. I loved him. And we got a lady from withoutabox.com to support the film. Last night, They featured our film in the top page of their huge website as the main spotlight film among all the other films playing at Tribeca Film Festival. How cool is that!! I will tell you all about it in another blog because they are doing really great things for our movie.
so we had a great party with our film in New York. I hope we can come back to NY again to show our film!!!!!!!!!!!!
