Press Release:
Happy Trailers HD is proud to announce the acceptance of their film “The Jukebox: From Edison to iPod” into the 60th Annual Cannes Film Festival 2007.
The 47 minute American documentary directed by Lance Miccio uses the voice of the jukebox to record American history through pop music.
Narrated by Peter Coyote with intimate interviews with musicians from the Drifters, Canned Heat, the Monkees, and Tom Waits’ band, among others. The story includes the Jukebox testimony of directors, authors, poets, musicians, street artists and Jukebox lovers who discuss their connection with the machine that brought joy to millions.
We found through our collective study and research of the Jukebox that everyone has a fond Jukebox memory. This is evident in Lance Miccio’s, Matt Turner’s, Joel Schechter’s and music producer Ken Hatley's sentimental journey about the glorious box and its significant impact on society.
“The Jukebox: From Edison to iPod" is more than a documentary film. It is a cultural treasure with a soundtrack that is the soul of a nation.

It has been described as "a cultural treasure with a soundtrack that captures the soul of a nation" and "a true American original." Jukebox lovers please rejoice in this film. Official selection of the 2007 Short Film Corner - Festival de Cannes and the Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales, where it has been nominated for the "Tinny" award for "Best American Documentary." What happens when Government control pushes music underground? Rock N Roll Made in Mexico tells the story.
Thanks to all who helped bring this film to fruition from its humble beginnings in Providence, RI to its final stages in Los Angeles. This important film helps bring people from all walks of life together as did the JUKEBOX when America was at its finest.
This little works-in-progress from a little town in Providence is full of grit, heart, and soul. Thanks to Lance Miccio and Happy Trailers HD and everyone involved in making this dream into a reality.
