Misael and Rogers rules!
Jun 25, 2007 05:39PM
The Boys of Summerville team met at a gem of a place in Kingston, TN today. Misael and Rogers. They specialized in Mexican and Italian cuisine and were gracious enough to let us shoot a scene in their restaurant today.
Of course they opened at lunch and the customers began pouring in... but did THAT stop us?! Sort of. But we did get through our scene with some more funny and entertaining action out of the Hornets!
So tomorrow we head to the field again and shoot the teams 1st game of the season. Needless to say I probably won't post anything tomorrow because I'll be whining the rest of the evening about how hot it was and how sunburned I got.
We'll have fun no matter WHAT! As a director I DEMAND it! Of course I'm joking.
...or am I?
...yeah I'm joking.
My Camera Arm is Sunburned!

But that's not going to stop me!!
Nor will Casey Payne's hot pink colored shoulders (and no I'm not talking about his undershirt) stop him as we saw today at Thunderworld USA.
Speaking of the location... we had a little communication belch with the manager. Apparently they understood me saying "We'll be there at 7:30 to use the bowling alley and batting cages" as "we'll roll in at 9:00 and skip the bowling altogether".
Common mistake. You're forgiven. But my 1st AD had a bit to say about it! She snapped the managers into shape and they politely complied with the legal and very binding location agreement and release form they signed 2 effin' (thanks Rocky) months ago.
But we banded together like a herd of wild elephants trampling through a field of inept managers and got every shot we needed and finished the day before 5:00. A new record for us!
Murr even showed up for 3 hours to deliever his one line! What a champ! Casey and Wesley continue to blow my mind with their acting and once again... the crew was there to eat the food, drink all of the coffe, and blow my mind again with their fantastic technical and artistic guru-like knowledge. I love them. you know... like brothers. The kind of brothers that would come up to me after a long day of shooting outdoors and give me a big hug immediately followed by an Indian burn on my arm. Yeah... the one with the sunburn.
And tomorrow we get the Summerville Hornets together once again for some pizza eating, light beer drinking (but not in the glamorous way of course!), cake stealing, and fight picking with some innocent parents and children! What fun!
Back to the living!

We set our alarm for 3:00 am so we could head up to our location in Caryville, TN to shoot 2 days of singing, dancing, pool shooting, arguing, drinking, and other wonderful bar actions at Crab Apple's Bar.
No one should be up that early... and they CERTAINLY shouldn't be heading to a BAR at that hour in the morning. But of course, when have we done ANYTHING normal on this shoot? After Rocky's scene with the cake and Michelle's scene with the wheelchair, I can POSITIVELY say that this movie is going to be bringing some new and never before seen comedic elements to the big screen.
All right. No more caps lock.
BUT (okay, I lied)... we did get our scenes shot and we finally were graced with some OUTSTANDING (see?) performances by Amy Eakins-Casterline, Allison Varnes, Casey Payne, Wesley Murphy, Brad Bumgardner, Christian Pitre, Amber Rose Wilson, Linds Edwards, Jervis Brown, and even some more seasoned actors like David Dwyer and David Keith.
I do have to brag one more time on our DEDICATED extras and our AMAZING crew. I've heard more compliments from so many people about how awesome everyone works together and how smoothly things move along on this production.
If I could shed a tear on this blog... I might do it. I feel so blessed to be able to work with the people I get to work with on this movie!
But alas... I shall remain dry eyed and stoic as we continue to conquer each day and move into our second week of shooting. TWENTY FIVE PERCENT DOWN! JUST 75 PERCENT MORE TO GO!
Oh no he di 'int!

Day 2...
Oh how shall I describe day 2?
I'll say this. We shot a scene today that took much control from the crew in order to refrain from peeing their pants from laughter. I literally had to hold my mouth shut as I watched our actor, Wesley Murphy, perform his comedic scene with the most remarkable control I've ever seen an actor perform a scene like this. If there ever WAS a scene like this...
And that was the easy part. After our break we shoot the last scene with "Rocky" that day. It involved several mutilated cakes, tons of hot pink icing, and one really... well... I'll save the last part for later! Trust me, though... you'll know what scene I'm talking about when you see this movie!!
As we moved locations to the ballfield, we were greeted with the most outstanding and enthusiastic extras I've ever worked with! These folks were AMAZING! I do believe the blood of these extras truly does run green and gold!
On to day 3!
Well, day 1 started with a hiccup...
Jun 17, 2007 05:36AM
We arrived at the location, a restaurant, this morning thinking we'd see the owner of the place to let us in. Except he wasn't. And he didn't.
So, after a call to the East TN film commish and a few other calls we got a relative of the owner to drop by and open the place up.
And then, we rolled with the vim and vigor that made up for the near hour loss of waiting for the doors to open. I broke out the Varicam (slobber) and after a few gasps at how big and electronic it looked we got set up for the first shot of the day.
Our amazing crew (Bruce Glanville, Wayne Tourville, Jackie Barnes, and Mike Reid) went straight to work as our wonderful talent (Casey Payne, Catherine Campion, and Nic Cornett) arrived just a few minutes later. The extras arrived looking quite dashing and ready to work. We shot our scene and after a few near outbursts of laughter from the crew during the takes we got everythnig we needed. And on time! Of course, I really have to give it to the PAs as they jumped right in and wasted no time helping our gaffer and sound guy with their equipment.
Then it was off to Alcoa to shoot our second scene of the day inside of a jet that had the absolute coolest seats I've ever seen. Now I've seen seats that lean back and scoot forward and backwards... but these bad boys could also rotate a full 180 degrees, tilt, scoot, and even slide away from the cabin wall! These things were on a friggin gimbal or something! After Casey got his play time in with the magic seats we shot scene 2 and wrapped our first day!
We then went for lunch after dodging, what I can only describe as, a mile long line of rush hour traffic "2 Fast 2 Furious" wannabes. However, we made it to Wendy's without a scratch and with high hopes for day 2. And after watching the dailies for our first 2 scenes I gotta say... high hopes are definitely what I've got for Boys of Summerville!
The Boys beef up their roster!
