The MARKSMAN went down to Georgia...
Jan 12, 2007 07:30AM
For those of you down in the Augusta area, be sure to head over to the Imperial Theatre for the 6pm short film block tonight for the premiere of "Marksman" -- we're with some other excellent shorts, and tickets are only $3-5 for the set! If you do go, please drop me a message and let us know what you thought!
Best to all the Southern Fried folks this week!

Southern Fried Marksman
Jan 03, 2007 07:27PM
Sorry for the dearth of updates, but we've been slammed over in Kung Fu Monkey town.
I'm very excited to announce that "Marksman" has been invited to its first fest! We are proud to be part of the Southern Fried Flicks Film Festival in Augusta, GA. We will be in the 6pm block with some other great shorts (including some by WABbits, yay!!).
If you're in town, check us out! For more info, go to http://imperialtheatre.com/fried.htm
The Mystery of the Envelope has been solved
Oct 06, 2006 07:51AM
Yes, the blank envelope was a mistake. The perils of a SASE is that it's begging to be mailed, and this one apparently begged a little early. :) So no panicking at the mailbox until the last week of November now.
The first envelope is back! And it's....empty?
Oct 02, 2006 09:29PM
Matt ran down to check the mail this evening and came back with a strange discovery. "This is the SASE we sent in, isn't it?" he asked me, clutching a white envelope with the Kung Fu Monkey sticker on it. One of the festivals we applied to lets you send an envelope for them to return your ballot in if you don't make it into the festival, so you can see the judges' comments. A nice idea, but this seemed rather portentous as we'd only mailed this off a week and a half ago.
That is, until Matt handed it to me. "Feels a little light, doesn't it?" He took it back and put it up to the light. "It's empty!"
Tearing it open like a kid demolishing a carefully wrapped birthday present, I discovered that it was, in fact, empty. A bit sticky from the melted glue, but empty.
We've emailed the festival to find out the meaning of this strange omen. We're hoping it was an accident and not a sign of things to come. Maybe they'll give it a careful look now that they've worried us a bit.
We'll see what happens! Time for dinner and "Studio 60"... Cheers!

Festival Submissions, Ahoy!
Sep 26, 2006 10:00AM
The smart thing to do would be to buy stock in padded mailers, amray cases, and verbatim DVDs.
For our early submissions, we've been burning DVDs from the one stop post shop that is my room. There's almost always a copy of the movie being tested on my small TV that's a leftover from college, leaving me humming the pervasive theme music for most of the night. Ed's music is fantastic, but being so, is always caught in my brain. As part of our thank you to him, part of the DVD stack is on its way to Park City Film Music Festival. Hopefully they'll be as swept up in the compositions as I have been -- even if it means I find myself humming it at work while I type.

We're on DVD, and we're officially set up on WAB!
Sep 13, 2006 12:46AM
Post production has wrapped, and our spindle of blank DVDs is filling up with copies of Marksman. It means that it's finally time for the post team to start sleeping again, but it also means that it's time to get our Audience page going. As the appointed Festival Czar, I'm looking forward to sharing Marksman with the WAB community as we move from spindle to screen.
So, on behalf of the entire cast and crew of Marksman, welcome to our page. We're just getting started, but promise lots of updates over the weeks to come.
Thanks for stopping by!

The lights are back on.

Sorry to have gone dark for a while gang, but things have been very busy at Casa Me. Lots of work craziness, plus some holidays and a new game console to check out, a dead router, and of course tons of work for "Marksman." We've submitted to a bunch more fests over the last few months, and I'm furiously coding our websites now that I've given myself a crash course in PHP.
Check out the "Marksman" page for news about our first festival invite and other fun things to come!

Yay for message boards!
Nov 01, 2006 08:04AM
Due to the fact that we have two names on our WAB account, when the message boards transitioned, mine didn't. There were 4 of us who were caught in limbo, but happily Cheryl and her awesome tech ninjas got us back on the boards! The only casualty is the fact that the boards now think I'm a boy. Other than that, life resumes as normal. :)
Hope everyone had an awesome Halloween!

I miss my message boards...
Oct 25, 2006 04:35PM
There seems to be some kind of error with my account that I can no longer access the message boards. I thought they were down, but customer support says nope.....and I'm logging in the way I'm supposed to, but I can't make it from the main page to the boards without ending up at the login screen again. Anyone else have this problem? Did you fix it somehow? Share your secret!
I caved.

The button maker arrives tomorrow. My resistance only lasted about an hour. The need for Kung Fu Monkey buttons eclipsed my need to eat 3 meals a day. ;) We're on the hunt for other fun swag for festivals as well...
Swag hunting
Oct 09, 2006 07:49PM
I'm doing everything in my power to resist buying a button maker on eBay. We want to make fun goodies for people, but we're also poor and living on ramen. Decisions, decisions... In other news, we have a KFMP website registered, which means it's time to be reunited with my HTML skills of bygone days. Look for more updates about that soon!
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Sep 26, 2006 10:11PM
I'm a huge fan of Sports Night, so naturally, I was excited to hear that Aaron Sorkin was going to have another show about show. I was twice as excited when I found out that Nate Torrence, one of our lead actors in "Marksman" had a part in the cast of fictitious "Studio 60." Like the five-year-olds we are, Matt and I were giggling as we watched Nate sing mock Gilbert & Sullivan last night at 10pm. Congrats, Nate!!
It's nice to see the rhythm and pacing of Sports Night come back alive in a show that looks to have a lot more staying power. Shoe money tonight!

Jen:
Please forgive me for noticing how gorgeous you are. I guess that's not supposed to be commented on these days but I really don't give a damn. But that's not why I am posting to your site. I've checked out a lot of WAB sites and find your story line very intriguing. Best of luck to you!

Glad you liked the writing...I like the fact that this is a place I can come and sit down and write for as long as I want about whatever I want...it's relaxing, reaffirming, challenging -- all those good things.
Oct 27, 2006 04:59PM
cool dude thanks for the headsup- let's all make buttons!!!
Oct 25, 2006 11:34PM
Button makers are fun...good luck with the festival hunt; I'm trying to learn about them myself.
Oct 18, 2006 07:50AM
Oh, buttons will be had!! :D Going to do some test ones once the machine arrives to see if my printer is über enough to make pretty buttons. If not, it's off to kinkos or staples with pdfs of monkeys! Then, buttons for all. :)

Hi Jen, thanks for dropping by the audience site for One Night With You and giving your congrats. We do feel lucky to have this really nice poster. It was designed by Calvin Sumler (he's done some really big posters). He's a friend of ours and was very generous in helping us out. I'm having the worst time getting our trailers to load on Audience, so here's a link you can use to connect to them from imdb (we have two different trailers - one story trailer and one that hints at the subplot): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790722/trailers If the link messes up when I post this (html is still new to me) just go to imdb.com, search for One Night With You (2006) and you can reach our trailer links from there. I'll keep checking back to see your trailer too. I look forward to it!
Sep 27, 2006 07:28PM
Thanks! :) We're planning on having a trailer and clips online as soon -- we're locking down the rest of our print stuff (poster, postcards) first and then hope to put up clips and/or a spiffy trailer. Stay tuned!
Sep 27, 2006 10:53AM
We wish you luck on the festival circuit, and I look forward to catching your film. Do you have, or plan on having, a trailer online?
Sep 26, 2006 11:22PM
I don't watch a lot of TV either, except on DVD way after the fact, but I've been fiddling with the rabbit ears to watch "Studio 60" through the snow. Nate plays Dylan, one of the sketch actors on the show-within-the-show. He's a very familiar face on commericals, a hilarious comedian (his one man show last year made me almost cry with laughter), and a really nice guy to boot.
We've submitted "Marksman" to a handful of festivals thus far, so hopefully our premiere will come from one of those! It'll be a while before we hear anything back from anywhere, but we'll have plenty more submissions to keep us distracted until then. :)
Sep 26, 2006 10:19PM
I don't watch alot of T.V. but I did catch "Studio 60" last night and I have to say I look forward to the next episode. What character does your friend play on the show, and when do you expect "Marksman" to premiere?
