Film Production Blog "breakdownmovie"
We're happy to annouce that "Breakdown" is now avaliable on Amazon.com. In addition to DVD, you will soon be able to purchase "Breakdown" as a digital download from Amazon.com's "Unbox" service. We'll post an additional note when this becomes avaliable.
In related news, "Breakdown" has been accepted in The Edgerton Book and Film Festival as a finalist for the film competition component of the festival. "Breakdown" will be shown on Sunday, October 14th. Additional details can be found at the festival's official website, http://www.edgertonbookfestival.com/.
Jason - The Producer
The second society film "Breakdown" is currently "in consideration" for the Nashville Film Festival.
The Nashville fest has a long history as a showcase for films involving music and we think it is an ideal venue for "Breakdown". Nashville is the first festival we had in mind when creating "Breakdown" so we are very excited about an opportunity to be involved with the festival.
Due to festival rules we will have to delay the DVD release of "Breakdown" until after the festival. While we are disappointed about delaying the release the possibility for showing the film at the Nashville fest and getting "Breakdown" in front of a wider audience outweighs any disappointment we may have about the DVD release. This will also give us more time to put into the DVD project so expect even better results when the DVD is released in 2007.

to the Nashville Film Festival!
Nashville is the first fest we had in mind when we created "Breakdown" but we didn't get to the final cut in time for submission in 2005. Now that the film has been nice and done for awhile, we're going to give it a go and see if we can find ourselves a place at this great festival.
This may push back the DVD release of the film if it interferes with our ability to qualify for the festival...
Wish us luck and we'll keep you posted on the results.
Jason - The Producer
Last night I captured the last bit of footage that will make up one of the "special features" on the Breakdown DVD. Now it's just a matter of getting the "real" audio from Matt (all I have now is the on-cam sound, we recorded the dialog separately) and then trim the fat a bit.
With this last bit taken care of we can turn our attention to assembling the disc itself, rendering out the final files that will become the disc, assembling menus, etc.
With any luck we'll have the disc contents and a "draft" version ready to take to Requisite Variety for mastering by the end of the week.
I'm also working on a little teaser/trailer/making-of that can be posted here to give you a taste of the film if you haven't yet seen it.
Jason - The Producer
As the theatrical run of "Breakdown" winds down I wanted to post the remaining dates for those who enjoy the "theatrical experience".
- October 18th
- October 21st
- November 15th
- November 18th
The Mode is located at 121 S. Monroe Street, Waterloo, WI. All screenings begin at 7:00PM.
We are planning something "special" for the final showing on November 18th. While the plans are not yet finalized, the event will be geared for filmmakers and anyone else who is interested in meeting the filmmakers and learning about how to "make a film about almost anything for almost nothing".
If you've been waiting to see "Breakdown" and have an interest in filmmaking, this will be the showing to attend. We will also be annoucing the DVD release of the film and you can expect a few other surprises as well...
Jason - The Producer
Currently "Breakdown" is showing regularily at The Mode theater in Waterloo, WI. We'll be showing there twice a month through November, with additional future showing to be announced.
I've yet to figure out a better way to do this, so for now, here's a link to the showing schedule for "Breakdown": http://2soc.net/breakdown/index.html

Film Maker's Blog
It's been awhile, busy editing "The Mark" as well as kicking of the new project "The Crud Run Diaries" and doing pre-production for our first dramatic feature...
...but I wanted to mention that we have been slowly acquiring films for our ReviewsBrothers project as well, any we are still accepting submissions from filmmakers seeking a review of their feature-length films.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Jason the producer
A new independent film review is avaliable from the Reviews Brothers. Please take a moment to check out the review and learn more about this compellingly dark feature from filmmaker Josh Whittall.
If you are an independent filmmaker with a feature film and are looking to find your audience, contact the Reviews Brothers and we will review your film and help bring it to the audience who is waiting to see it.
You can learn more about Reviews Brothers mission by reading this entry on our website. If you would like to have the brothers review your film, contact us at reviewsbrothers@gmail.com and we will be in touch.
Some of you undoubtedly are reading this because you saw my post on your blog and think it might be spam or some other less than desirable thing.
I hope not!
We're coming from the perspective of indie filmmakers ourselves with our offer to review your film. We know from personal experience that connecting your film to the audience which desires it can be a dark and mysterious thing, and we put Reviews Brothers together as our humble offering to give back to the filmmaker community.
If we have offended you by extending this offer, then please accept our apology, but we believe strongly that we offer something unique to the independent filmmaker and look forward to hearing from those of you bold enough to work with us.
We have started a new blog which will provide reviews of strictly independent films. These are films which are produced and distributed by the filmmaker themselves.
The difference in our approach is that instead of simply recommending or rejecting each film based on our own preferences, we'll provide a description of what we think the audience for the film is; if you think you fit this description, then you should check out the film.
More details available here: http://reviewsbrothers.blogspot.com
We're currently seeking films for our first round of reviews. If you have a feature-length film that you have produced and are distributing yourself, contact us at reviewsbrothers@gmail.com.
If you're not sure if your film qualifies, or you have any other questions drop us a line and we'll help sort that out.
The most beautiful film released by the second society (http://2soc.net) to date, "No One's Home" takes distillation of film-making art to a new level.
Shot using the new "In 3's" technique to be featured in their upcoming "Project M", "No One's Home" is a triumph in high-speed, high-quality film-making.
The show must go on!
By request of several filmmakers, The Wyalusing Film Festival will go on as scheduled for 2006.
We expect to see several films from second society members as well as others in the majestic woods of southwestern Wisconsin on Saturday, October 7th.
We will be posting the results of this years festival on 2soc.net when we return from the great outdoors next week.

Over the weekend I reviewed the rough cut of "The Knife" and it's exactly what I was looking for. I gave the score a "first crack" as well as some preliminary color grading, etc. and things are really coming together.
I'll be posting a more detailed entry on this on the "The Knife" page.
I posted a few production pics from "The Knife" shoot as we as a shot of the marque from the "Breakdown" premiere.
We are just finishing up the rough cut of "The Knife" and so far it looks like we are still on target for a final cut in the November/December timeframe.
Now that photography has wrapped for "The Knife" (upcoming project, more info soon) I'm finally getting around to posting some updates on the other films, including "Breakdown".
If someone could explain a way to add events to the calendar (such as showings) I would appreciate hearing about it.
We are pleased to annouce that "Breakdown" will be showing at The Mode theater on the following dates:
- July 12th and 15th
- August 16th and 19th
- September 13th and 16th
- October 18th and 21st
- November 15th and 18th
The Mode is located at 121 S. Monroe Street, Waterloo, WI. All screenings begin at 7:00PM and tickets are $3.00 at the door.
If you get a chance to see the film in the theater please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions. If we use your comment to improve the film, we will include you in the credits of the DVD release.
Thanks again to everyone who has made this possible and we hope everyone else enjoys the film.

Thanks for adding me to your list of buddies. I appreciate you taking the time to view my page and the trailers. And yes, trying to get my project into fests and find distribution is a long, tough road. And it doesn't help when people want different but then when they are confronted with it: they run and want 'the same.' Go figure. Drop me a line again and maybe we can compare notes. And please check out my latest trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4UfMTNviZw

As an honoree you are only responsible for showing up to the awards ceremony, and accepting the award with a big smile. Pretty easy.
