So we're here at Sundance film festival, walking up and down Main Street freezing our tookus-es off (and yes I know that tookus is not really a word, but that's how it feels!)
Buzz seems to mostly be about who spotted Steve Buscemi where, and the film crew for "Official Rejection" who are shooting footage for their upcoming doc about, you guessed it, the film festival circuit. Alternate Fuel Sources for the Vehicle-Bound

The rising price of gas is combining with increasing concern about global development to lead to extensive international interest in sources of alternative fuel for urban transportation needs. Los Angeles based Lovecraft BioFuels aims to address this new interest by promoting bio-diesel and offering vegetable oil conversions on diesel vehicles. Though one can use bio-diesel on a non-converted car, after a conversion at Lovecraft the vehicle in question is capable of running exclusively on cleaner-burning vegetable oil, which can be obtained at a network of community fueling centers across the West Coast, or even at the local supermarket.

Independent filmmakers are increasingly bypassing the traditional studio and distribution system by turning to a digitally reliant, do-it-yourself approach to film distribution and screening. Internet-based companies like Withoutabox, BSide, Myspace, iTunes podcasts, Youtube and Revver are furthering this distribution revolution by providing self-regulated screening opportunities, film festival submission tools, marketing, and even ticketing services. Filmmakers are able to gain new audiences by showing their films online, and subsequently to arrange theatre screenings in cities where enough fans have requested their film through embeddable “request a screening” widgets, as evidenced by the successes of filmmakers Buice and Crumbley of "Four-Eyed Monsters".

Silver Lake Film Festival was created to specifically address the lack of opportunity for independent narrative features and documentaries, as well as short films, to be seen by audiences in movie theaters. These are films that reflect a personal vision of the filmmaker, rather than a commercial imperative. In fact, the majority of films screened at the annual SLFF festival would otherwise never been seen by Los Angeles audiences in any context - in theaters, on TV or DVD, etc. In addition to its annual festival, the organization presents a monthly screening of short films that is consistently SRO and a variety of media arts and related arts programming throughout the year.

Doesn't matter if they've screened recently, they can be as non-narrative or narrative as you please, experimental, traditional, domestic, foreign, whatever... the overlying need is spookiness and shortness (under 30 minutes!).

Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, of Little Miss Sunshine Fame, have agreed to be the 2007 Spirit of Silverlake Honorees at the Silverlake Film Festival. In addition to a special screening during the honors ceremony, we will be programming a series of their inventive music videos as part of our Music Fest. Stay tuned for more info.

thanx for the information about grants from government.... it would be really helpful if they do it India also.... I did approach a Mobile manufacturer company to sponsor me because i shot my entire movie on a mobile phone camera made by them but was treated very badly.... But this information about grants is completely new to me, i'll do some homework thanx alot ;-)
