The key to the film is in the direction. With almost no special effects, director Irwin uses lighting to his full advantage. The darkness is only darkness, but the implied horror is more intense than anything that special effects could create.
In a scant 14 minutes, Levin manages to build a comedic situation and push it to hilarious heights.
Rather than pulling the viewer away from the story, the animation minimizes the surrounding world putting the focus on the tale told rather than who is telling the tale.
Making a film on a low budget and short production schedule is no excuse to produce poor quality. If this was the best Fridley could do with $2000 and eleven days, she should have waited until more money and time were available.
CBStW is a funny short film about a high school boy who uses his drive-thru job as a medium to dispense advice to the people he meets. With interesting characters and an odd premise, the film offers laughs. Super production values. Too good to miss.
DOAS is a funny, quirky comedy with characters that seem real and satirical at the same time. The dialogue is filled with humorous lines almost surreal in context. Wheeler is one to watch!
