Hermosa Shorts Film Festival ::: Bittersweet Aug 22, 2006 08:19AM
The Hermosa Shorts festival was a great event. About 20 friends from the general area came to our screening. I'm eternally indebted for their support, especially when the weather was too perfect for an afternoon to spend inside. Sadly, that same weekend, I learned that my grandfather took a bad fall, hitting his head. He later lapsed into a coma from hermoraging inside his head. Fortunately I was able to see him, sleeping. That same weekend our film was also screening at the Crested Butte International Short Film Festival in Colorado, and at the Dallas Asian Film Festival in Texas. I had waivered for quite a while between Hermosa for friends and family, and Crested Butte for running a quality tenured festival. Upon my return to NYC, he passed during the night. Up to the end, he lived a great long life, leaving behind eight grandchildren. He had four children of his own with a wife of 60 years who never left his side even at her age of 92. My grandfather was 94.
