RESULTS Wins Big At the San Francisco Black Film Festival!!
Jun 27, 2007 10:12AM
I am SO proud to announce that RESULTS continues its super-successful run in the festival circuit by winning “BEST SHORT” at the 2007 San Francisco Black Film Festival!!
Moreover, I received the Melvin Van Peebles Maverick Award which “honors an emerging filmmaker with unique vision, singular style, and an uncompromising point of view.”
I continue to be awed by the power of prayer, and I am humbled by the accolades that this labor of love continues to receive. None of this would have been possible without the support, hard work, and love of many of you. I again thank you, and I will continue to do my best to make you all proud.
RESULTS, Winner of "Best Short" At The Martha's Vineyard African-American Film Festival!

Our first victory! Hopefully one of many... It was a great experience in MV. I met quite a few amazing filmmakers and saw some amazing films. But at the ceremony, to hear my film called as "Best Short", was indescribeable! It's the culmination of 8 years of dreaming, and it was made even better because I was able to share it with my wonderful fiance! We're waiting to hear from 4 other festivals, and hopefully we can keep this track record going. Stay tuned...
RESULTS; Nominated for "Best Short Film" At The 2006 Juneteenth Film Festival In Dallas!

You can only imagine what it felt like to be sitting in the audience at the Awards Ceremony and see a clip from your film be shown on this huge drop down screen! It may not have been the Oscars, but you couldn't tell me that! It was a great experience, and although we didn't take home the trophy (the winner was a film starring Marla Gibbs of 'The Jeffersons", and directed by Angela Gibbs, her daughter or grand daughter; makes you wonder...), just being one of only three films nominated, out of over 30, was enough for me.
One down, many more to go!

WRITER and DIRECTOR
Born in Harlem and raised in the city, I had never traveled west of Ephrata, PA, until I made the trek to The University of California at Berkeley in the winter of 1987. What was even more significant was the development of my love of acting while at Berkeley. I performed in numerous student productions before discovering that my true path was in the entertainment industry. In 1992, I moved to Los Angeles, hoping to make my dreams a reality. I worked my way up from Production Assistant to Co-Director on a variety of film and video projects, ranging from Starter Hats Commercials and numerous music videos, to feature films and major television sit-coms. These sit-coms included such hits as “In The House” and “The Steve Harvey Show”. Simultaneously, I co-founded an entertainment company dubbed black coffee entertainment. The company’s first taste of success began with the management of the Black Eyed Peas in late 1994, culminating in the signing of a record deal in 1997. I served as the tour manager for the 1998 national tour of “Behind the Front”, The Peas’ first album. I also managed the international tours for the group, until late 2000, when the relationship between black coffee entertainment and The Peas dissolved. Soon thereafter, I re-immersed myself into my first love, film and television, landing the job of Assistant to the Vice President of Production and Development at State Street Pictures; the production company helmed by Bob Teitel and George Tillman, Jr. Producer/Director team of such films as “Men Of Honor” and “Soul Food”. While at State Street, I landed the coveted position of Assistant to the Director of the first “Barbershop” movie, Mr. Tim Story, who has gone on to direct the blockbuster hit franchise “Fantastic Four”. To this day, Mr. Story remains a valued advisor, as well as a close friend. In June 2005, I competed in the Los Angeles 48-Hour Film Project, directing my first short film, “There’s No Jennifer Here”. It went on to screen at both the 2005 S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase and the 2005 Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles, as well as the 2006 Pan-African Film Festival in Atlanta. My latest short film, entitled “RESULTS”, was completed in June 2006, and has ceremoniously begun making its way through the festival circuit, being selected as the winner of “Best Short” at the 2006 Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival, sponsored by HBO. And most recently, “RESULTS” is the winner of “Best Short” at the 2007 San Francisco Black Film Festival. Moreover, I received the prestigious Melvin Van Peebles Maverick Award at the 2007 San Francisco Black Film Festival which “honors an emerging filmmaker with unique vision, singular style, and an uncompromising point of view.” Also in 2007, I decided to pursue writing and directing full time, and since making such a fateful decision, many projects have grown legs! One of the most exciting is a signed writing contract with Bright Idea Entertainment to pen an action/comedy tentatively entitled “Crime Pays?”
