Screening today at Landmark Regent/4:30 Jun 29, 2006 11:38AM
We had our world premier two nights ago, and we've got another screening today at 4:30. The premier was held at the Majestic Crest, a beautiful, old theater with glittering stars on the ceiling that was the perfect setting for our story. The film played to a packed house and seemed to be received extremely well. I sat in the back row, trying not to pass out from anxiety, and afterwards went up to the front to answer questions. One of the most rewarding things I've found about filmmaking is to have people recognize and appreciate the techniques I've used to tell the story, so I was very happy when people asked questions about color and camera work. All in all, the premier was an awesome, if not nerve-wracking, experience.

I'm at the Los Angeles Film Festival with my film, "Swedish Auto". This is my first festival as a filmmaker, and I'm just trying to keep my head above water at this point. We've been lucky to have a lot of press and industry interest, meaning lots of meeting and interviews, but I'm also trying to make sure that I save some time to see movies. So far, I've seen some great films, and I feel like we're in very good company.

My film is a small independant film shot completely in my hometown of Charlottesville, VA over eighteen days last fall. All of the money we - the producer, Tyler Davidson, was a good friend from college at UVA - raised was from friends that I've known for years, and it's so great to have that kind of intimate bond through this chaotic process. (One of our key investors is the younger sister of my best friend from growing up - when we were making movies in elementary school, we always dragged her out to be an extra for us...and now twenty years later she's my executive producer!)

It's a small film, but we've gotten a ton of support from family and friends, and now we're here at LAFF and trying to make the most of it. We hope you come check out the film and enjoy it. See you there!
