- Film: Dear Ryan
- Film: At 3 a.m.
Born and raised in a small farming community in northern Iowa, Davids grew up isolated from a majority of popular media. With the nearest movie theatre, video rental, and fast food restaurant an hour or more away, she was forced to rely on her own creativity and imagination to keep herself occupied. This she did by writing and recording original radio dramas, organizing large-scale theatrical adaptations of "Star Wars", and leading spontaneous parades. The skills she gained from these activities were indispensable to her success at the University of Iowa where she completed B.A.s in Cinema, Theatre Arts, and English as well as a certificate program in Sexuality Studies and a minor in American Studies. After graduation, Davids, 26, worked in a production office at Warner Bros., transcribed interview footage for G4-TV, owned and managed a bar, coached high school speech, took up bookbinding, and wrote for a daily newspaper (in that order). Davids has been making films with a rural Midwestern focus for the past 8 years. Her most recent interest is in short form and the re-appropriation of found footage and home movies to create very personal autobiographical pieces.

Courtney:
I've read a lot of filmmaker's blogs and have seen at least two other filmmakers who grew up in similar circumstances as you. It is fascinating to me how you found outlets for your creativity. Reminds me kinda sorta of the young girl in the film, "Amelie." You are the first I've seen making short films to create, "very personal autobiographical pieces." Interesting stuff! Best of luck to you.

Burnley
