"BEAUTIFUL" has begun

AJAX FILMS has begun production on another Kay Merryweather music video. The song "BEAUTIFUL" is just as its title suggest, pleasing to the senses and mind.
The video shoot was simple and to the point, and Kay was charming as always! We will post the link to "BEAUTIFUL" as soon as it is complete, for now here are the links to our previous music/video collaborations:

FASHION WEEK NYC starts!

Hi everyone,
Well, it been a long time. Our screenings in Germany of BIRD IN THE SKY were great! Especially Frankfurt. Great crowd, great question & answer, great party!. Berlin was really fun too, what a city!
Recently we have been down in Central America working on establishing a film studio and farm. Shooting and planting in the rainforest. Our second rain forest project is already in the works. It is a documentary on the MAXIMON the drinking and smoking Mayan god. He is a little like the North American trickster figure.It was incredible working and hanging out with the shamans. They are a wild and knowledgable group.
We are back in NYC for fashion week, shooting a show or two. Then back to the rain forest (thank god)! Good luck to all!

PORTLAND UNDERGROUND

Hi,
AJAX FILMS has just returned from the PORTLAND UNDERGROUND FILM FEST. What a blast! They showed our feature "4 O'CLOCK". We made the film 10 fu.king years ago, so the whole thing was no pressure. I can't belive someone requested we dig it up from the grave. But I must say bw 16mm looks beautiful on the big screen and those few that staggered into the theatre loved the movie. The city of Portland is great, Seth Sonstein who runs the fest is totally cool, I can recomend this fest.

Fetish films for the obsessed

I recently saw the film The Notorios Betty Page. It was bad. I have never really liked any of the films by Killer Films: I Shot Andy Worhol, Velvet Goldmind, etc. but I was captivated by the subject, Betty Page. Well it would be hard to take the fun out of a 1950's bondage queen but they did it. Boring.
Not to be totally negitive, the original films by Irving Claw of Betty and other beauties of the day are great. They have the attention to detail, the free spirted approach and a real OBSESSION! I mean look at those shots of the shiny shoes and the joyfully thin story lines. No frills just magic. The new film is a weak historical comment on Betty Page, the original is art.
Any way we are allowed to rave a little here right? AJAX

Hello this is just a quick note to start off this new blog. These are exciting times, so many ways to shoot: Film, video, web cams, WOW! Any way I have been experimenting with web cams and low tech stuff and gettin' some pretty fantastic results. Good luck, sounds light and fast! We shoot a music video for Kay Merryweather, her song LOVE IS A GAME WE PLAY, this Sat here in NYC using web cams and a Sony 900 recording on to the computer drives. She going to look awsome, will keep you posted. PS I still gotta drag around a couple of heavy lights ha ha.

Yeah, I'm going low tech too with a Sanyo digital camera that records video with sound on an SD memory card and it's about as big as a cell phone. One crew member is all that is needed. Results to come soon. Low low tech is the future and the future is now.
