Un Mejor Mañana (A Better Tomorrow) is a real life documentary which follows visionary artist John Bonifacio Moreno on a journey into the unknown. This film starts off as Moreno enters urban Guadalajara, Mexico where he runs into controversy over his religious drawings because of the separation of church & state. He has to decide whether to change the images in his murals or move on to the next city. The second half of the film is shot in Michoacan, Mexico during “Semana Santa” (Holy Week), where we meet artist Martha Vivanco Galvan and the indigenous Purepecha people. Moreno’s religious artwork is widely accepted in the indigenous pueblos and is influenced by the ceremonies and events of the Purepecha’s celebration of the Easter holiday. While in Mexico Moreno makes an incredible impact on the young people and connects the viewer with the unknown, showing us that we are not alone in this universe. Watch as the artist creates beautiful story telling murals & teaches the young people how to paint from their souls.
