Just accepted into The Brooklyn International Film Festival. Makes me feel better, having just been rejected by a festival I was very eager to play. No point in getting specific, but suffice it to say, the festival was CineVegas.
Award! Apr 30, 2007 10:12PM
The film just won the Best Short Film Award at the Dead by Dawn Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the first award for the film. I'm getting a god damn trophy!
Canadian Film Centre Apr 30, 2007 10:11PM
The film was just accepted into the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, up in Toronto. The event runs from June 12-17.

I'm very much beginning to love Toronto.

"Toronto Star" Review Apr 30, 2007 10:04PM
Scrubs writer/production assistant Ryan Levin has a quartet of buddies getting together for a weekly poker game who are having some trouble holding on to a fifth, since one of them happens to be a serial killer. Grotesquely hilarious. World premiere.
Germany! Apr 30, 2007 10:01PM
The film was just accepted into the Fantasy FilmFest, which will tour 8 cities in Germany in the summer of 2007. Very cool.
World of Comedy Festival (Toronto) Apr 30, 2007 09:59PM
The film played at The World of Comedy Festival up in Toronto this past weekend. I wasn't able to attend, but the Festival Director e-mailed me the following:

"The Fifth" was definitely the most controversial film we showed this year and generated a lot of conversation. We really pushed the envelope with it and I'm glad we did. The press really enjoyed it."

Festival Update Apr 30, 2007 09:59PM
1) The film was just accepted into the Newport Beach Film Festival in April. A very cool festival, from what I'm told.

2) The film played the Omaha Film Festival this past weekend. I was not there, but the film seems to have gotten some good response on the festival website. Here are a couple of audience comments:

--"Some truly horrendous things happen in this film, but the acting was excellent, the cinematography was excellent, and I was laughing my ass off at this truly disturbing dark comedy. I can't get it out of my head!"

--"Yes, the acting was good and the film had a quality look to it. However, I just can't handle a film where a rape, murder and decapitation are part of a comedy. Sorry, just can't." Seems we accomplished our goal -- appeal to some, horrify others...
