Film Description:
Synopsis
Breakdown is the story of the rise and fall and rise and fall of the band Foggy Mountain Breakdown. The film follows the lives of six young men as they accidentally start a band, develop a local music scene and eventually go their separate ways. One of the band members manages to beat the odds and through sheer determination, becomes a professional musician. This film consists of recently shot interviews as well as ten years of archive footage following the band from birth to dust and birth again. While the plot of the film is the life of a band, the meaning goes deeper and tells a story that anyone who has taken a chance and embarked on a creative career can relate to.

We're happy to annouce that "Breakdown" is now avaliable on Amazon.com. In addition to DVD, you will soon be able to purchase "Breakdown" as a digital download from Amazon.com's "Unbox" service. We'll post an additional note when this becomes avaliable.
In related news, "Breakdown" has been accepted in The Edgerton Book and Film Festival as a finalist for the film competition component of the festival. "Breakdown" will be shown on Sunday, October 14th. Additional details can be found at the festival's official website, http://www.edgertonbookfestival.com/.

The second society film "Breakdown" is currently "in consideration" for the Nashville Film Festival.
The Nashville fest has a long history as a showcase for films involving music and we think it is an ideal venue for "Breakdown". Nashville is the first festival we had in mind when creating "Breakdown" so we are very excited about an opportunity to be involved with the festival.
Due to festival rules we will have to delay the DVD release of "Breakdown" until after the festival. While we are disappointed about delaying the release the possibility for showing the film at the Nashville fest and getting "Breakdown" in front of a wider audience outweighs any disappointment we may have about the DVD release. This will also give us more time to put into the DVD project so expect even better results when the DVD is released in 2007.

to the Nashville Film Festival!
Nashville is the first fest we had in mind when we created "Breakdown" but we didn't get to the final cut in time for submission in 2005. Now that the film has been nice and done for awhile, we're going to give it a go and see if we can find ourselves a place at this great festival.
This may push back the DVD release of the film if it interferes with our ability to qualify for the festival...
Wish us luck and we'll keep you posted on the results.

Last night I captured the last bit of footage that will make up one of the "special features" on the Breakdown DVD. Now it's just a matter of getting the "real" audio from Matt (all I have now is the on-cam sound, we recorded the dialog separately) and then trim the fat a bit.
With this last bit taken care of we can turn our attention to assembling the disc itself, rendering out the final files that will become the disc, assembling menus, etc.
With any luck we'll have the disc contents and a "draft" version ready to take to Requisite Variety for mastering by the end of the week.
I'm also working on a little teaser/trailer/making-of that can be posted here to give you a taste of the film if you haven't yet seen it.

As the theatrical run of "Breakdown" winds down I wanted to post the remaining dates for those who enjoy the "theatrical experience".
- October 18th
- October 21st
- November 15th
- November 18th
The Mode is located at 121 S. Monroe Street, Waterloo, WI. All screenings begin at 7:00PM.
We are planning something "special" for the final showing on November 18th. While the plans are not yet finalized, the event will be geared for filmmakers and anyone else who is interested in meeting the filmmakers and learning about how to "make a film about almost anything for almost nothing".
If you've been waiting to see "Breakdown" and have an interest in filmmaking, this will be the showing to attend. We will also be annoucing the DVD release of the film and you can expect a few other surprises as well...
Jason - The Producer
Currently "Breakdown" is showing regularily at The Mode theater in Waterloo, WI. We'll be showing there twice a month through November, with additional future showing to be announced.
I've yet to figure out a better way to do this, so for now, here's a link to the showing schedule for "Breakdown": http://2soc.net/breakdown/index.html

By far the best feature length documentary about Foggy Mountain Breakdown ever made.
