In 1990, Catherine Morley and her family relocated to Tennessee to start a new life. She and her husband, Tim, were well respected in their professions, making lots of money and holding upstanding positions. While they live a life of poshness, there was a dark sectret that they lived with. Tim was an alcoholic and an abuser. Because of his alcoholism, he sometime made bad decisions reagarding himself and his marriage. In 1994, Catherine became sick and needed to have a hysterectomy. It was at this time that she found out that she was HIV positive. Not knowing about the disease and how she could have become infected, she thought she was going to die immediately. Since there was not that much research on the disease and its correlation with women, Catherine decided to start an organization to assist women who are suffering from HIV and AIDS. In 1996, Catherine started WOMEN, whose main objective was to help African American women and their families deal with HIV and AIDS.
