Film Description:

Synopsis

'Stilllife' deals with a many subjects: the most obvious, the hidden sexual message existing behind almost every visual message delivered today through the media, mainly in advertising but not solely. They don't sell you chicken soup, they sell you quasi-orgasmic sensations and desires towards a (quite tasteless) instant soup powder. Another subject it deals with - on the opposite - is the almost ecclesiastical indoctrination of the lack of sexuality in an environment which to my view has sexuality as at least one of its main subjects, which is the art world in what refers to the human figure. In the drawing room, while we draw models, or while we look at classic works of art, we are taught to look at the fine proportions, the spirituality, the light and shade effects, while ignoring almost completely the obvious subject matter in front of our eyes. The original inspiration for this work came from a tv episode of one of those nature programs in which they showed how certain animals - during mating seasons - reflect in their faces the shape of their sexual organs in order to attract mates of the opposite sex. From there it seemed quite obvious how we humans adapted such a mechanism to our everyday experience - again, mainly in advertisement but not only.
