New Review by Steve Anderson @ Film Threat Jan 21, 2008 12:56PM
NO DESTINATION by Steve Anderson (2007-09-10) 2007, Un-rated, 18 minutes An aggressively short crime drama attempts to detail the intricacies of life, death, and morality on every side of the law in "No Destination." Which is a whole lot to do for a movie that only runs eighteen minutes, with about two reserved for the end credit roll. Yet, somehow, "No Destination" manages to do just that. There's not a whole lot of plot that I can describe without monster spoilers--a young couple runs afoul of a couple of minor-league thugs who've just graduated to murder--but I'll make one thing perfectly clear. These eighteen minutes are going to just fly by. Laumeister's work is taut and deftly paced, with enough happening before an explosive conclusion to make you glad you stuck around. It's a real surprise that Laumeister could pack this much into this short a time frame, and frankly, I'm glad for it. If you can find the chance to get a hold of "No Destination", and you're even vaguely fond of crime drama, then you'll love this little doozy.

"No Destination" review from Terry Keefe (Venice Magazine) Apr 10, 2007 06:08AM
"With shades of Peckinpah's Straw Dogs, Tarantino's Dogs of the Reservoir variety, and Lodge Kerrigan's Clean/Shaven, No Destination is a disquieting, yet darkly funny, and surprisingly action-packed character study. Featuring a riveting performance from John Savage, who creates a psychotic that is extremely disturbing because he's real to the point that you can practically smell the Mad Dog 20/20 wafting off of him, the film is directed with a sure hand in the debut by Shannah Laumeister. Mixing gunplay, first-person voiceovers, surreal editing, and dark comedy is a hard mix which she pulls off with finess. A name to watch."

Destination Reveiw by Richard Kaplan, Valley Scene Magazine,
(World Premiere Short)
Lead actor John Savage brilliantly grabs this role by the balls as a drug addicted ranting madman following his own code of rules that only he can hear in his head and then imposing them on others. Savage's character and his flunky apprentice depart his trailer after snorting copious mounds of the white line on route to the mini mart where all hell breaks loose resulting in murder and hostage taking.
Written and Directed by Shannah Laumeister this film is turbo charged and fires on all cylinders. It has compelling character driven script writing, actors pulling his or her own weight throughout, and the direction is intuitively raw like something approaching the echelon of what a female counterpart to a Quentin Tarentino would create.
As I understand it, this is Laumeister's first foray into directing an Indie film. However, she is no stranger to working in front of the camera having acted in several films and television productions over the years. All I can say is that she knocked this one right out of the park. No Destination, completely captures the true spirit of what Indie filmmaking is about. And I sincerely hope that the right people in the industry are able to view this impressive little nugget of cinematic drama and throw some serious money and weight behind her because this gifted and promising director is a player. Big Time !
