Synopsis

After losing his parents to murder, Victor Ferretti has been living the street life as a hit man for the dying mob. While Victor tries to make sense of his life, in between the killing and the constant nightmares he finds peace with a woman named Avery Cole. Her innocense and beauty show him a look into the future instead of his horrible past. But when Victor is assigned to kill a lawyer, by Frank Torrio, a deadly hitman, he finds out that his partner Kane O'Banion has been secretly trying to set him up. Surrounded by a man who loves the power of killing women (Kane O'Banion) and the most deadliest of hitmen, (Frank Torrio) who knows the mystery of his families death, Victor finds himself in a trap based on a deadly decision. Victor must choose to save his own life or the life of others before the mob and Kane can find him first.

Director Statement   May 17, 2006 05:53PM
For this project I wanted to create a film that visually and aesthetically spoke in the language of film and cinematography. I wanted to create a film that if it was muted like a silent film, each shot and each movement was motivated by the story and also be pleasing to the eye.

The process of this came from watching older films from the 30’s-50’s that visually told the story with amazing cinematography and bleak imagery. I studied older films such as M, Touch of Evil, Out of the Past, This Gun for Hire, Rebecca, Raging Bull, The Night of the Hunter, Paths of Glory, Psycho, The Seventh Seal, and newer films such as, Clockwork Orange, The Godfather Trilogy, Road to Perdition, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Fight Club, Se7en, Schindlers List, Days of Heaven, Dog Day Afternoon and Visions of Light by the ASC and many others. But black and white films were my biggest influence because of the contrast of light and dark which is exactly what I think of when I think of film noir.

I also wanted to tell a story with the themes of film noir such as fear, mistrust, crime, anti-heroes and also have the melodramatic tone and feeling of those films. The style already evokes drama and suspense but the story had to have conflict and action. Hitmen are great icons of gangster films and I’ve always wanted to make a film just about young hitmen. So I created “Cloak” which is about consequence and how the past shapes our future. But it is also a romance with themes of fear and hope.

I made this film with a great crew and cast and am still thankful for their time and talent. With over 4800 ft of film stock and over 22 days of shooting, I owe them some favors. So thanks guys and girls and I won’t forget you when I’m a big Hollywood director with girls on my arms, bitching for a cigarette and my grande latte. But until then watch my film and spread the word!

Sorry - hit the wrong button at the wrong time. Anyway, if you type in, "Pumelo" in the WAB message boards you will see what an anti-American, predatory, uneducated creep Savio is. My great thanks to the fellow WAB members who alerted me to his real intentions.

Best of luck to you!
