Synopsis

Beginning as a mere radio program in the 1930s, the Radio Church of God had grown into one of the most successful organisations of media evangelism in America by 1965. Having been known as the 'black sheep' among orthodox Christians, it's teachings soon spread to more than 120 countries around the world, including non-English speaking countries like Africa and India. With it's headquarters in Pasadena, California, it soon changed it's name to fit the movement - The Worldwide Church of God. However, in the late 1980s, the church implemented a series of controversial doctrinal changes that posed great challenges to it's members and the organisation. Of more than 120,000 members worldwide, they lost more than half their membership and income. Today, their members still struggle with these changes. Cited as one of the most dramatic religious movements of the 20th century, three Singaporean members share their stories about the church, how it made a difference in their lives and making the inspirational transition into mainstream Christianity. From Cult to Christ, this story is a rare insight into the amazing Christian journey of the people of the worldwide church of God.
